I was born in August 1963 and I probably listened to these songs on the radio that my mother left on to entertain me so she could do the housework. I really love songs from this era.

In 1969 I was 21 and a new mother. I listened to the radio all the time and never missed American Bandstand. My daughter walked at 9 months and would stand in front of the TV and try to dance. Those were good times. I'm 76 now and love to watch these videos of AB.

It was a great dance show! I watched every week. I'm 71 and still dancing!

To me, this is about the lamest dancing, for its time, that I have ever seen. Mostly they all just stand in one place, move their arms up and down as well as kicking their feet out in front of themselves. They can’t be high or they would really be going for it…like the hippie go-go dancers. Wonder what they are so terrible on here?

The new theme for 1969 was called “Bandstand” Theme by Mike Curb and the Waterfall. The 45 rpm is very hard to find but I finally found one.

Now I see what it was about Dick Clark that didn't click with me. His eyes were totally blank while his voice retained vocal variety maintaining a deadpan expression. Seemed odd and disconnected.

I love the shot of the guy dancing in his Beatles boots. Very cool. I wanted a pair but no way my mom was going to buy Beatle boots for her little boy. Rats!!

Gimmie Dat Ding by the Pipkins, was Tony Burrows and Roger Greenaway who was a prolific songwriter of many hit records of the 60s and 70s. and Tony lead vocal on many of them.
